The Center for Jewish History Receives $1 Million from the Blavatnik Family Foundation for Fellowships, Film Digitization and Additional Beneficial Projects

The Blavatnik Family Foundation has awarded $1 million to the Center for Jewish History, home to the largest collection of Jewish history in the world outside of Israel. The award reflects the generosity of Len and Alex Blavatnik, longtime board members at the Center. “This extraordinary contribution from the Blavatnik Family Foundation provides key support for the Center in what may prove to be the most pivotal time in our 20-year history,” said Peter Baldwin, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “We are grateful that the Blavatnik Family Foundation strengthened their longtime support of the Center through this major gift. Blavatnik Archive hosts international conference saluting WWII Jewish fighters

The role of WWII Jewish fighters was recently celebrated in an international forum sponsored by the Blavatnik Archive, with the support of the Blavatnik Family Foundation, Genesis Philanthropy Group, and the David Berg Foundation. The online conference Nov. 14-15 honored the nearly 1.5 million Jewish men and women who confronted Adolf Hitler and the Axis powers. The “Jewish Soldiers & Fighters in WWII” conference was organized in connection to the Archive’s traveling exhibit, “Road to Victory: Jewish Soldiers in WWII.” The forum drew nearly 40 historians and leading experts from universities, archives, libraries, and museums in nine countries, exploring the “Jewish soldier” through historical and contemporary lenses. UK’s fourth wealthiest man gifts £766,000 archive Jewish history

The centre housing the largest collection of Jewish history in the world outside Israel had a major financial boost this week as the UK’s fourth wealthiest man Sir Len Blavatnik donated $1 million. The Blavatnik Family Foundation awarded the seven-figure sum to the Center for Jewish History for the preservation, digitisation and archival processing of collections held by the Center’s five in-house partners.
