The First Episode of the 2021 Read Smart Podcast Season is Out Now

Host Razia Iqbal is back for a brand new season of the Read Smart podcast in the lead up to the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction 2021 awards.

This episode explores the art of political biography, reflecting on the boom we’ve seen in US political publishing over the last four years related to the impact of former President Trump.

Razia is joined by by previous Baillie Gifford Prize judge and New York Times Opinion editor Max Strasser, and two US publishers, Bria Sandford, Editorial Director of Sentinel and Executive Editor of Portfolio, imprints of Penguin Random House and Clive Priddle, Publisher of Public Affairs, an imprint at Hachette in the US.

Each month, Razia will be hosting a variety of guest, from prize winning authors and Baillie Gifford Prize judges to publishing insiders, to talk about the world of non-fiction. Catch-up on previous seasons of Read Smart to hear conversations with all of the 2020 shortlisted authors as well as the 2020 judges and many more special guests.

The next episode, airing at the end of February, will be all about health and medical memoirs in the non-fiction world.
