The Foundation supports a number of iconic performing arts institutions to advance a wide variety of music, dance and drama.

Our backing has enabled artists and performers of all ages and abilities to pursue their ambitions, ensuring institutions leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

American Ballet Theatre

Founded in 1939, the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) is one of the greatest dance companies in the world. The Foundation has provided significant support over the years for the ABT’s ongoing operations.

Alvin Ailey

The Foundation provides scholarships for students at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, which offers world-class, diversified dance training for students 3 to 25 years old. The Foundation also backs the company’s development of artistic and educational programs, its Choreography Unlocked Festival, and provides significant ongoing support.

Carnegie Hall

Carnegie Hall

In 2016, the Foundation gave $25 million to support the growth of Carnegie Hall's artistic, educational, and digital initiatives over the next decade. In honor of the gift, Carnegie Hall’s first-level seating tier in its historic main auditorium was named the Blavatnik Family First Tier.

The Foundation was a Founding Patron of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States, a program created by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute in 2013.

Justin Peck's Illinoise

The Foundation has supported “Illinoise” since its premiere at the Fisher Center at Bard College in June 2023. After a successful run at The Park Avenue Armory, the production will transfer to the St. James Theatre on April 24, 2024 for a limited Broadway engagement. The show, directed and choreographed by Justin Peck, is based on the landmark Sufjan Stevens album.
