Viviana Gradinaru, a 2021 Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientist National Finalist, has been named one of Carnegie Corporation’s Great Immigrants of 2024. Comprised of naturalized citizens from 16 countries, honorees are recognized for their work in science, public service, education, health, journalism, the arts, and business, among other fields. Gradinaru’s research has focused on developing technologies for neuroscience that are used to probe circuits underlying locomotion, reward, and sleep, and she has explored the benefits of deep brain stimulation for patients with Parkinson’s disease.
