The Courtauld has announced plans to open two new art galleries at its Somerset House campus, expanding its engagement with living artists and contemporary works. Enabled by a £10 million gift from the Blavatnik Family Foundation—bringing the Foundation’s recent contributions to the Courtauld to £20 million—the galleries are expected to open in 2029 and will host exhibitions, commissions, and student-led curatorial work. The Foundation has a long-standing relationship with the institution, which named the Blavatnik Fine Rooms in 2021, and reflecting on this partnership, Sir Leonard Blavatnik said, “My family and I have taken great pride in our association with the Courtauld over the past decade. It has been a privilege to play a leading role in shaping the Gallery’s future.” Read the article here.
