The Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction Announces 2024 Longlist

The longlist for the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction, which celebrates the best in non-fiction writing, is announced today, Thursday 5 September. The winner will be announced on Tuesday 19 November at an award ceremony generously supported by the Blavatnik Family Foundation. The announcement will also be live-streamed across the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction social channels.

The Blavatnik Family Foundation Supports the Royal Academy of Arts’ Retrospective of Michael Craig-Martin

In September 2024, the Royal Academy of Arts will present the largest retrospective of Michael Craig-Martin RA’s work ever to be held in the UK. A key figure in British art, Craig-Martin (b.1941) is one of the most influential artists and teachers of his generation. Curated in close collaboration with the artist, this ambitious exhibition will encompass the broad repertoire of Craig-Martin’s sixty-year career.

The UK’s premier non-fiction book prize, the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction, today, Thursday 18 July, announces the 2024 prize cycle dates. The winner will be announced at an award ceremony generously supported by the Blavatnik Family Foundation.

Justin Peck’s “Illinoise” Wins 2024 Tony for Best Choreography

"Illinoise" began performances and opened on Broadway April 24, 2024 at the St. James. The musical is inspired by Sufjan Stevens' album "Illinois" and features direction and choreography by Peck. The Foundation supported "Illinoise" during its premiere at the Fisher Center at Bard in 2023.

V&A Announces First Major Exhibition Celebrating the ‘Golden Age’ of the Mughal Court

Today the V&A announces details of a major new exhibition The Great Mughals: Art, Architecture and Opulence, which will present the monumental artistic achievements of the ‘Golden Age’ of the Mughal court (c. 1560-1660). Opening November 2024, the exhibition has been supported by the Huo Family Foundation, The Al Thani Collection Foundation, the Blavatnik Family Foundation, with further support from Maithili Parekh and Shashank Singh, Santi Jewels and the V&A Americas Foundation.

It’s No Cannes or Venice, But Gettysburg Just Had a Sold Out Film Festival

Ken Burns, Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston turned out for the Civil War town’s history film festival. The festival featured screenings of Burns’s films at Gettysburg’s venerable Majestic Theater, and conversations with Burns, actors Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston, and author Susan Eisenhower, granddaughter of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

The Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction Announces 2024 Judges

The announcement coincides with the opening of submissions for this year’s prize. The prize aims to recognise and reward the best of non-fiction and is open to authors of any nationality. It covers all non-fiction in the areas of current affairs, history, politics, science, sport, travel, biography, autobiography and the arts. The 2024 awards event, taking place at BMA House in London is generously supported by the Blavatnik Family Foundation.
